Digbi Health's gut-microbiome and genetic-based obesity management program now allows 60,000 Doctors and Providers in a Large Health Plan Network to Prescribe the Digital Therapeutics Platform Program is Covered by Insurance for Members

Digbi Health, the first company with a clinically proven genetics and gut-microbiome based program to safely and sustainably treat and manage obesity and associated inflammatory gut, skin and cardiometabolic health issues, is now available to members of a large health plan in California, as a fully covered program, on the health plan's wellness navigation platform. It's the first time over 60,000 physicians and clinicians practicing in California in the health plan's network can prescribe a weight-loss program personalized on a person's genetic, gut microbiome and lifestyle. Through the Digbi Health solution, patients are supported by a team of caregivers, led by a physician and care experts trained in nutrition, cognitive behavior therapy, genetics and gut microbiome. The health plan offers access to Digbi Health as a fully covered program to members who qualify. The Digbi Health Precision Care Network (PCN) is a network of physicians practicing precision medicine. As part of that network, physicians get marketing resources to educate their patients about Digbi Health on the wellness navigation platform, access to their patient's dashboard, with patient approval, and additional support from the Digbi Health care concierge team to support their patients between visits to help improve patient outcomes. Digbi Health program members without a physician can also get referred to a specialist in the PCN. "The development of cardiovascular disease is a matter of genetic predisposition and gut microbiome composition interacting with acquired conditions, and factors such as diet, exercise, and exposure to damaging elements," said Cynthia Thaik, MD. Harvard-trained cardiologist at the Holistic Healing Heart Center and Digbi Health PCN member. "I have already prescribed Digbi Health to a covered patient for pre-diabetes and hypertension," she added. Solera Health is taking the lead on personalized and preventive care for their members. Health outcomes for members in the program: 72 percent saw an 8.92 percent average weight loss Members with pre-diabetes or diabetes have seen an average decline of 1.01 percent in their A1C levels. 75 percent experienced reduced Irritable Bowel Syndrome and acid reflux 75 percent experienced relief from headaches/migraines 66 percent decreased their anxiety 66 percent lowered their chronic pain "We are an innovative telehealth company that supports overburdened physicians by redefining care for 100 million Americans who struggle under one-size-fits-all digital health programs, weight loss diets and stigma of "poor self-control" while fighting obesity and associated inflammatory comorbidities," said Ranjan Sinha, CEO and founder of Digbi Health. Digbi Health - WVU in a research partnership to explore the relationship between personalized postoperative weight loss, genetics, and the gut microbiome

At Digbi Health, we continue to look for better solutions in personalized wellness and care. To this effect, we are proud to announce an upcoming research collaboration with The West Virginia University Medicine Medical and WVU Bariatrics Surgical Weight-Loss Program. The study will utilize Digbi Health’s personalized digital therapeutics platform to better understand the role of the gut microbiome and human genetics in postoperative weight loss and maintenance. The clinical pilot will evaluate the effectiveness of Digbi Health’s obesity management digital program personalized to each bariatric surgery patient, one-year post sleeve gastrectomy. It will be fine-tuned based on the patient’s lifestyle, genetics, and gut microbiome risks to assist with weight loss as well as maintaining a healthy weight. Through this collaboration with WVU Medical, we aim to further explore the critical importance of personalized nutrition and its direct impact on people suffering from obesity and associated metabolic illnesses. A long-term solution for Obesity Obesity is a complex metabolic disease and an ongoing global epidemic, with associated inflammatory, digestive, musculoskeletal, skin morbidities. Moreover, it is a risk factor for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, COVID-19, and could lead to reduced life expectancy. Bariatric surgery is an effective long-term intervention for morbid obesity. Yet, to reap the best outcomes from bariatric surgery, the patients need to make lifelong healthy changes in eating patterns. Social support is also a major factor in making the changes stick. Research indicates that individuals’ genetic and gut microbiome are intrinsically linked to their metabolism. Digbi Cares’ personalized meal plans and nutrition guidelines are curated to an individual’s genetic and gut microbiome markers, thus contributing to successful post-op weight loss and helping with weight maintenance. Nova Szoka MD, FACS, FASMBS, Assistant Professor at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, WVU Bariatrics Surgical Weight-Loss Center is the principal investigator of the study. Dr. Skoza has said that “WVU Bariatrics is excited to partner with Digbi Health to better understand how genomic, gut microbiome, and metabolomic factors can contribute to successful weight loss following bariatric surgery.”
