Digbi Health’s precision digital care program for Mental Health Achieves Key Clinical Outcomes

The first precision digital therapeutics platform using ethnic and gender-specific genomics and gut microbiome risks and insights has helped members of a large health plan in California improve mental health endpoints.   MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. May 31, 2021 -- Digbi Health today announced topline results from a real-world study of 275 people evaluating Digbi Health’s efficacy in reducing mental health severity among people struggling with weight and other inflammatory chronic conditions. 275 Digbi Health members participated in the real-world study. At the beginning of the program, 41 percent reported suffering from mental health issues. After participating in the program and losing 5 percent of their body weight, members reported improvements with anxiety by 33 percent, depression, and brain fog or memory challenges by 35 percent. “I now have clarity, and earlier I would have a foggy brain and couldn’t think or concentrate,” said member Kristie E. “Anxiety and depression are highly associated with other whisper illnesses - digestive, skin, and obesity,” said Ranjan Sinha, Founder, and CEO of Digbi Health. “Mental health is also intrinsically linked to gut health. The human gut microbiome is responsible for the synthesis and metabolism of critical neurotransmitters and hormones, implicating gut health in the so-called “gut-brain axis.”  Digbi targets some of the root causes of anxiety and depression by improving gut health and supporting it with cognitive behavior therapy. Mental Health is a whisper illness, and we are determined to ensure our members have the tools to be their happiest selves,” he said. According to a recent study in JAMA Network Open, Americans gained about 1 1/2 pounds every month during stay-at-home orders last year.1 At the same time, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 2 in 5 are struggling with mental health issues, and 31 percent reported struggling with anxiety and depression symptoms.2 In a systematic review published in JAMA Psychiatry, results showed a reciprocal link between depression and obesity. Obesity is proven to increase the risk of depression, especially for people in the US and in particular for people with clinically diagnosed depression. In addition, depression is found to be predictive of developing obesity.3 Among the Digbi Cares program participants, 72 percent saw an 8.92 percent average weight loss, and members with pre-diabetes or diabetes have seen an average decline of 1.01 percent in their A1C levels. In addition, 75 percent experienced reduced Irritable Bowel Syndrome and acid reflux; 75 percent experienced relief from headaches/migraines; 66 percent decreased their anxiety, and 66 percent lowered their chronic pain.
